Does anyone know what the future of this site is? I know it has been for sale for some time now and I see as of today the cams are all shut down. I love that site and view it several times a week.

Hi Dan,

I didn't see that you posted regarding the web cams as did I. Kim and I are truly disappointed the site is closed. Being able to see the goings on of the Island was a nice escape. Let's hope they can get back up sometime soon.

Todd and Kim

Hello Todd & Kim,

I sure hope the site gets sold soon or is at least put back on the air for the season. Right now the Horn's Bar cam is all we have I guess. It was great to be able to see different locations on the island live all year long.

Take care, Dan

The Chippewa Hotel webcam is still running.  Just go to the Chippewa site and you will see the "webcam" heading.  There is a "still" camera of Main St looking west as well as the 360 degree cam.

Thanks Pat...will do!

Now the Chippewa still cam is down (no longer listed on the site), the only views of Mackinac are the Chippewa 360 degree cam and Horn's bar.  Not good!

I noticed last week they were down.  Makes me sad.  When I was having a bad day, I'd pull up the cams and think of happier times.  It was also a great connection to all our friends on the island.  There was nothing better than friends  waving hi to us when they knew we were watching.  Very sad :(

The company must be worthless ,that is for sale,if the best thing to do is to shut down all the web cams. All that cash flow is being missed by shutting down unless it isn't producing any cash flow.

HI Dave, I was upset too, and I contacted the owner of the site. He used to work on the Island part time and could maintain the cams in working order. He had a lot of trouble getting help from the business's on the island to maintain the Cams. It got to the point where it was costing him $300.00 of his own money just to maintain the web site. A no win situation for him. You would think the downtown stores and the village would have helped fund the cams and the sites. Rick Moore, Petoskey, MI.

Richard, thank you for your reply. That is just a darn shame. It's all about the money and no one want's to spend it on advertising. Sad thing is those web cams are the best thing ever for keeping the island in the spot light during the off season. This is a modern internet age where there is a chance to expose many many people to the Island year round and they are dropping the ball BIG TIME. I will have to just be happy checking the Horn's bar and Island house web cams each week I guess. What a shame.

It is a shame,i agree. The owner of the web site is a really nice guy and i understand the predicament. It is nice to look at one of my favorite places in the world and see the snow melting for the upcoming season. But we're about 6 months from that, now. There must be a way to get them up and running again. There must be a way to pay for all the existing equipment to be kept running. The owner owns the restaurant accross from Mary's Bistro.

I think what may help if we contact the visitor Center on the Island they may be able to steer all of us that want the cams up and running again, or at least ask them to support the exhisting web site that is currently up for sale. I would think the Bussiness's would support this site, but talking to the web sites owner, he told me that was not the case, and there was not enough interest on the Island (as far as bussiness's go) to support the website to continue. I have been having trouble on contacting someone to voice my concerns about the Web Cams being shut down. If more people would complain and voice their concerns about these cams, who knows maybe it would help? If I find out who to contact about this, I will post the information. Thanks Richard, that would be great to have some contact information. Back in June I asked them at the visitor center when we were there, both employees had a blank look on their face like I was speaking Greek to them. LOL
