Round Island Lighthouse

Taken on July 9, 2011 during the annual Open House. This year included a special treat. Two of the sisters of the last lighthouse keeper at Round Island returned to the light for the first time since they left when it was decommissioned. What a treat to meet them and hear their stories. Also, the son of the builder of the lighthouse was present to relate tales from his father about the building of the iconic structure.
The weather was good all day, though I believe the morning was a bit better with less wind/waves. The island never felt crowded and the scouts did a fine job on their tour of the lighthouse. Can't wait to return!
