Just pick up and go this summer - you will never regret it. Even the ferry ride is exhilirating! Go Labor Day weekend and you can also walk the Mackinac Bridge while you are there. Too bad hubby does not want to go - it's a very romantic place, so either drag him, or go with friends or a tour group.
