My husband and I just returned from Mackinac this past weekend. I have posted some photos also. It was a cold weekend but it doesn't stop the enchantment of this wonderful place.
The ride back was interesting and for anyone else traveling in the Fall when the weather is unpredictable take the Arnold ferry since it has the largest boat. All passengers had to ride on the lowest level and stay sitting. The captain upon docking at Mackinaw City said there were some 8-10 foot waves! People were dumping their fudge bags for barf bags. It was a rough ride but fun in a weird sort of way.
Our stay at the Windermere was nice and comfortable. Great food thanks to tips on Trip Advisor.
Until next year!

Hi Pat. I agree. I love Mackinac in the fall. We had a wild windy weekend here in Flint, Mich. Alone. Not many kids out trick or treating this year!! Can't wait to see your photo's....Larry
Beautiful pictures Pat. I know what you mean about the weather. When we arrived in July, the weather was cloudy and a little wet, but I was just as happy to be stepping off the ferry. There were no clouds or rain in MY forecast. The sun was shining for me. :o) We grabbed our bikes and were making our first run around the island soon after checking into our hotel. There was a light rain and mist and we were a little damp after our ride but it was good.
What a ride you had on the ferry. Sounds exciting except for the poor souls with weak stomachs.
When my husband and I went in September, I called Windermere to see if they had a room but they were booked. It looks like such a nice location with the porch and view of the straits.
Thanks for sharing.
