I've never been to Mackinac Is. but would like to check it out! What are the options around Thanksgiving?  Is there snow on the ground by that time?  enough to X-C?

From Tampa, FL what airport do I fly into?  Then, is there a shuttle to get me to the ferry to avoid a car rental?

Jeff, Thanksgiving can be quite busy for islanders, though only the year-round businesses are open. That includes Doud's Market, The Village Inn, The Mustang, Patrick Sinclairs and one or two others. Only the Pontiac Lodge and Cottage Inn are Harbor Suites.

There will probably be some snow by then, but it's unlikely to be of any degree. The ferries will still be running. For a first time visit, I'd recommend May-October when more businesses are open. If you like cross-country skiing, then February would be my suggestion for prime conditions.

Flying into Pellson is the most convenient and shuttles are available to the docks in Mackinaw City. Pellston can be quite expensive, so sometimes flying to Detroit or Flint and renting a car can actually be less expensive (though you add a 4 hour drive each way). Hope this information helps!
