Winter Pictures from Mackinaw City

Jill from the Island Bookstore shared these pictures with me from her December visit to the island. I'm guessing the amount of snow is not much different today, but I will know for sure on Thursday.

The retired Coast Guard Cutter 'Mackinaw' is now a museum in Mackinaw City.

Shepler's pulls their boats from the water during the winter.

If you're like me, it's much more fun to see these boats plying the Straits! Hurry up, 2010 season!

As many of you know, there are several of us headed to Mackinac Island on Thursday for the Winter Festival. Blog members Jill from the Island Bookstore and Brenda Horton, with her friend Dawn and I will all meet in Flint for the drive north to St. Ignace where we'll hop a flight over to the island. I'll be posting pictures and video during the visit, so be sure to check in over the weekend!

There looks to be almost the same amount of snow now as there was in early December. Perhaps a little bit more. More pictures tonight (and perhaps today on the Twitter feed) from snowy Mackinac Island!

Have a safe and wonderful time! Someone could send live feed of the I75 trip via skype couldn"t they :) I am so praying that the roads are clear and open for you all. The owner of of the air flight out of St. Ignace is a brother to an old friend/bowling buddy from my years in Mt. Pleasant. This small world never ceases to amaze me. Enjoy every minute of it.
